PGA Golf Player Profile of Chris DiMarco

In the early events of the 2012 PGA Tour, Chris DiMarco has shown promise. Years ago, he was ranked with the best. Yet, injuries have spoiled his game in recent years.

Could the 2012 PGA Tour be Chris DiMarco’s rebirth among the greatest PGA golf players?

Chris DiMarco: Among the Best PGA Golf Players

Chris DiMarco’s first year as a PGA golf player was 1998. Since then, he has only won three PGA Tour events. However, he has finished among the best PGA golf players many times. Between 2001 and 2006, he was ranked in the top 10 PGA golf players for 61 weeks. Although DiMarco rarely came in first, he was often among the top finishers at events, until the 2007 PGA Tour.

Chris DiMarco: A Fallen PGA Golf Player

The 2007 PGA Tour began a long, discouraging stretch for Christ DiMarco. Last year, the 2011 PGA Tour, was his best performance in recent years. He finished 113th on the money list; this was the first time in four years that he finished in the top 125.

Between 2007 and 2011, Chris DiMarco battled every athlete’s fear: injuries. In 2007, DiMarco underwent shoulder surgery, and in 2009 he played with an injured wrist. DiMarco admits, “The problem with golf is that you have to play through the injuries. So you tend to work yourself into some bad habits.”

Chris DiMarco: A Healthy PGA Golf Player

Chris DiMarco began the 2012 PGA Tour healthy. “This is the first year in a while where I have been healthy,” he remarks.

With improved health has come improved performance on the PGA Tour. He finished 13th at the Sony Open, and was among the leaders at the Humana Challenge.

Chris DiMarco: Again Among the Best PGA Golf Players?

As the PGA Tour continues, Chris DiMarco might return to his former place among the top PGA golf players. Injuries could ruin his season, as he is 43. But, if Chris DiMarco can stay healthy, then he has proven he can be one of the best PGA golf players on the 2012 PGA Tour.
