Three Sleepers on PGA Tour Who Could Have Great Results in 2012: A Fan’s View

As the PGA Tour begins, fans are wondering what players they should watch.

Here are three sleepers on the 2012 PGA Tour. These three PGA players are not ranked highest on the leaderboard now, but they might have the best PGA results when the Tour is finished.

James Hahn, Comeback Player

Two years ago, PGA player James Hahn finished 29th on the money list. At the end of last year, he was 67th. This will be Hahn’s third year as a PGA golf player, and it could be his breakout tour. Of the 25 tournaments he played last year, James Hahn only made nine cuts. Can he take what he learned from missing 16 cuts to this year’s Tour?

Stewart Cink, Former PGA Champion

Stewart Cink has proven that he can be a top PGA player. He has competed in numerous Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups, and he won the 2009 British Open. However, he began the 2012 PGA Tour ranked 147th. If Cink can qualify for the Match Play Championship in late February, then he could turn his career around.

Robert Oppenheim, Streaky Golfer

Robert Oppenheim is beginning his third year on the PGA Tour. He finished his first two tours ranked 43rd and 44th on the money list. These average rankings do not reflect average play. Last year, Robert Oppenheim performed very well and very poorly. He finished in the top 10 three times, including a fifth-place tie. But he also missed the cut five times in a row. If Oppenheim can put together a consistent season, then he could be a top-10 finisher at the end of the 2012 PGA Tour.

As the 2012 PGA Tour unfolds, each of these PGA golf players could finish high on the money list. Stewart Cink has won before. James Hahn and Robert Oppenheim have shown they can be winning PGA golf players. The question is, will they in 2012?

Only the Tour can tell.
