Tiger Woods is in the 2012 Honda Classic’s field now, and he is my favorite to win the event. Granted, anytime Tiger Woods is on the golf course he could be the favorite. Yet, I believe his first PGA win in over two years will be the 2012 Honda Classic for two reasons. First, his game is coming together. Second, he will be having fun.
Tiger Woods’ Game
Although Phil Mickelson recently dominated Tiger Woods at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on the leader board, Tiger Wood’s game was not too far behind Phil Mickelson’s. Mickelson commented afterwards, “I know the score wasn’t what he wanted, and I know he didn’t putt the way he wanted to, but you could tell that he’s really close. And all it takes is one week.” Mickelson also noted, “He [Tiger Woods] had a tiny little fade, just like he used to do. And his iron play looked extremely sharp.”
I trust Phil Mickelson’s assessment and expect Tiger Woods to return in form within a week. He will be playing at the World Golf Championships: Accenture Match Play Championship from February 22-26. At the event, Tiger Woods should solidify his golf game and be ready for the 2012 Honda Classic.
Tiger Woods’ Enjoying Golf
This will be Tiger Woods’ first time as a professional at the Honda Classic. It is rare for Woods to experience a new event, but the 2012 Honda Classic will be a fresh stop for him on the PGA Tour. Sure, things at the Honda Classic will be similar to other golf events: There will be media members, fellow golfers and fans. Yet, there will also be a unique aspect to the 2012 Honda Classic for Tiger Woods. It is something he has not experienced before.
The 2012 Honda Classic, which will air on NBC from March 1-4, is perfectly scheduled for Tiger Woods. As it approaches, he will be perfecting his shots and regaining confidence. Once it arrives, Tiger Woods will be able to enjoy the excitement of a new PGA event. The 2012 Honda Class is Tiger Woods’ ideal PGA Tour event.
